When Jobs presented his resignation as Chairman of the Board of Directors at the end of September he announced that heding across the street, which came to be known as Siberia. Like a dissident Jobs had been sent to a gulog, and like any dissident, Jobs again challenged Sculley's power before the board suffering another defeat. By the end of the summer Sculley announced p Chairman of the Board, moved further and further away from having any power at Apple. Not only did he not find a new role, but few of Apple's important documents reached him. His office was moved out of the corporate headquarters to space rented in a buily. The fall of Jobs was engineered the night before a board meeting in a long series of telephone calls between Sculley and other board members.
